Acknowledgment
An acknowledgment confirms that a document was signed willingly by the person identified. The notary verifies identity but does not witness the signing. Common for deeds, mortgages, and power of attorney forms.
Jurat
A jurat requires the signer to swear or affirm the truth of the document’s content, signing in the notary’s presence. Used for affidavits, sworn statements, and legal declarations.
Oaths/Affirmations
Oaths and affirmations are sworn declarations of truth. An oath appeals to a higher power, while an affirmation is based on personal honor. Notaries witness these for legal testimonies or sworn statements.
Copy Certification
Copy certification confirms that a copy is a true and accurate reproduction of the original document. Common for diplomas, passports, or records when originals are unavailable.
How does Remote Online notary work?
The platform we use for remote online notarizations employs a two-step identification process that includes either knowledge-based authentication (KBA) or biometric scanning, combined with real-time credential evaluation. The KBA method involves answering five personal questions to verify the signer's identity, while credential verification utilizes both visual and electronic analysis of the signer's physical ID (you will need an unexpired ID) to ensure identity confirmation.
When scheduling your appointment, you'll have the option to upload the document(s) you need notarized. Alternatively, you can email them to notary@virtuallydejour.com. Please include your appointment date, time, and first name in the subject line.
Before your appointment, we'll send you a link to join the session. You'll verify your identity prior to the session. Please note that if the authentication process is not successful, we won't be able to notarize your document. Once authentication is complete, we'll proceed with your notarization!
